Venice Beach

Venice Beach is the place you want to visit if you are interested in doing some of the best people watching in the country. You can explore the Venice Boardwalk and enjoy watching the people skate, jog and bike around the the beach. People love to play sports on Venice Beach and it is just a great place to hang out and do some people watching.

Santa Monica State Beach

Santa Monica State Beach is a fun beach to spend the afternoon exploring. You will enjoy a great view of the mountains and while the beach is crowded, it isn't overly crowded.

Many people come out to see the Santa Monica Pier. The pier is three blocks long and packed with activities like rides, games and food stands. Make sure to visit the pier when you visit Santa Monica.

Abalone Cove Ecological Reserve

If you want to explore some of the treasures that the beach has to offer, then you should make it a point to visit the Abalone Cove Ecological Reserve.

It has amazing tide pools where you can view crabs, starfish, sea anemones and more. The walk to get to the tide pools is beautiful and this secluded beach has gorgeous views and caves carved out of the rocks.

El Matador State Beach

El Matador is know for its rock formation and they are very impressive. The sand is rocky, so you won't want to go barefoot. Make sure you have some sturdy shoes. You will find lots of privacy on this beach and you can enjoy some amazing sunsets from this vantage point and it is a great spot to take a date.

El Porto Beach

If you are a surfer or just like to watch surfers, then you will want to visit El Porto. It is an appropriate beach for both beginning and experienced surfers. There is also a great bike path at this beach and volleyball courts. If you plan on surfing, this is the place that you want to go.
